Hawaii's Artists from the North Shore to be Featured on HGTV July 13, 07

The North Shore is finally getting some national television attention for things besides surfing........

Artists in Hawaii were selected for their work and their studios to be on national television. I was one of about 16 artists filmed. Michelle Bird, of the nationally syndicated TV show "That's Clever", HGTV (Home and Garden Television) writes:

"Aloha J,
I just received the air schedule from HGTV for July and want to let you know that your episode (HCLVR-356) is scheduled to air on Friday, July 13, 10am ET/PT. Please be sure to check the website at the link provided below to confirm this schedule as the date gets closer. The information for your episode number may not appear until the end of June so don't worry if you don't see your information just yet."

The air date is Friday the 13th (July). I thought that was funny, as I grew up with the number 13 everywhere; on the house I lived in, on the school bus, etc. I've always seen it as normal, good luck, even. It was a scripted show, so don't be surprised if you see me growling at the kiln, catching vases thrown from Bruce's antique biplane zooming overhead, or using my best french accent talking to my own hand. (My sincere apologies to the French, it is quite terrible.) I am very fortunate that this is the second TV appearance for my work and myself. TV really doesn't really add 10 lbs, that is completely a myth..... It is more like 20! But Buster D. Bird (you'll see him on my shoulder) made his "National TV Debut" this time and wants his own email address for all the fan mail he expects. I hope he doesn't want his own show!

The crew was there two days. The filming of the segments took 6-7 hours, encountering very high humidity in the studio, swarming termites, and a ghost encounter earlier in the film crew's day that they caught on film. The editing itself took one year. I have included pictures since many of you will be at work on a Friday and won't see it. I, too, have not seen it, no telling WHAT is on it!

Special thanks to Emily Catey Photography, (documenting photography) and Mimi Makward for her wholehearted help

I hope we all enjoy the show, it will probably be a hoot!
