Gunstock Ranch is a 400 acre working ranch located at the base of the beautiful Koolau Mountain Range on Oahu's North Shore. Aside from Horse and Cattle Sales, Gunstock Ranch offers some of Hawaii's finest horseback riding trails. Meandering through the majestic Koolau mountains you will come to viewpoints that overlook miles of Oahu's finest coastline. Gunstock Ranch is also the only ranch on Oahu offering guided Moonlight Rides each full moon.
Gunstock Ranch is home to many Hawaii High School Rodeo events, the Paniola O Ko'olauloa 4-H Club, American Barrel Race Association events, as well as Roping and Sorting events. It is an important part of the Paniolo community on Oahu.
Gunstock Ranch has been in the Smith family for over 35 years. Originally from Arizona, Max Smith was a third generation rancher. He moved to the islands in 1965 to become a state meat inspector. He was later elevated to state veterinarian. Smith was Hawaii state veterinarian until 1994, retiring after 19 years. Max Smith has also recieved the honor of being added to the Paniolo Hall of Fame.
Boarding at Gunstock Ranch offers horse owners more freedom than any other Oahu ranch.
You will find we have large lush pastures, most averaging at least an acre. Gunstock Ranch Management appreciates the varied riding styles of every horseman/woman. Due to liability issues so many ranches today have pages and pages of limitations. Although Gunstock Ranch promotes safety, we also respect your freedom to ride as you wish. We like to have happy horses and happy riders!
Most all events are open to the public! Come and see us sometime!
