Waialua Public Library
Waialua Public Library was built in 1927 under a huge ear pod tree that gives it plenty of shade year round. This is perhaps one of the smaller Public Libraries in the state but yet friendliest.
In 1997 the Public Library Association voted Waialua Library the best small rural public library in the United States, due to its friendly staff of four and the calm but yet energetic atmosphere.
On December 27, 2005 Hawaii's Governor Linda Lingle released $172,500 in funds for improvements at Waialua Public Library. The funds will go toward new flooring, shelving, computers, counter tops and lockers among other neccesary repairs to create an open and safe access for everyone in the community.
The Hawaii public library system also encourages readers to download electronic format books (e-Books) from the comfort of your own home. Books available for download can be found at: http://hawaii.lib.overdrive.com
