Oceans in Glass:

For ten years, Oceans in Glass has been a highlight of the North Shore Marketplace. Visitors and residents alike gather here to watch daily demonstrations of the lampworking technique. This is a rarely practiced art form which requires heating and manipulating of solid glass rods in a 5,400 degree flame. Inside the gallery, guests encounter a delightful array of hand made glass art sculptures and jewelry fashioned by several different artists.

Featured artist Krista Woodward has honed her skills as a professional glass sculptor since 1991. Her artwork focuses primarily on sea life, and she draws her inspiration from her diving and snorkling experiences in the local Hawaiian waters. Examples of her sculpted pieces include turtles, fish, whales, dolphins, and marlins. Her hallmark piece, the tropical moorish idol fish, requires the infusion of color with clear glass, and embodies the highest level of the art form.
Krista's enthusiasm for bringing awareness to the artform is reflected in her beautiful sculptures, and she continually strives to create new ideas and designs to excite her customers.
